Developing a comprehensive school-based physical activity program with flexible design – from pilot to national program

Abstract This article focuses on the process of designing vital, participatory school-based intervention program aiming to increase physical activity in schools. The analyzed is Estonian nationwide comprehensive Schools Motion (SiM) that recently received European Commission’s #BeActive Education Award. has a good performance terms willingness schools participate co-creation development, high interest join and zero dropouts, strong partnership with ministries which enables actively policy making. Authors analyze key elements planning, piloting, implementation, scaling phases SiM share their lessons learnt co-working difficulties faced during development process, strengths challenges associated an interdisciplinary approach, involvement as experts have been addressed.
